National Conference patron Farooq Abdullah was heckled by a woman while he was on his way to Zahid Rasool Bhat’s home in Botengoo to offer condolence to his family. Eyewitnesses said that a woman, injured by gunfire in 2010 protests in the town, came in infront of NC patron and began protesting near the house of Bhat. Soon, other people gathered around and raised slogans against him. “The woman had been injured in her leg due to a gunfire that she received during 2010 protests. She asked Farooq Abdullah that why he didn’t visit her home after she suffered the injury and was not paid any compensation by the government,” the witness told KNS. Farooq was flanked by other party leaders, including Ali Mohammad Sagar, Nasir Sogami to pay condolence to Zahid’s family. Zahid was killed by a Hindu mob in Udhampur on October 9, after being set afire along with her another friend. Police and personal security of the NC patron prevented the protesting group of people from coming close to him, which caused a minor scuffle. “In the scuffle, a woman police constable was injured. However, the NC leader and his other party men reached Zahid’s home and offered condolences to the family,” the witness said.
