Sopore : In continuation of its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Sopore Police have arrested one bottleger and recovered illicit liquor from his possession.
A police party of Police Station Sopore headed by SHO PS Sopore Insp. Nissar Ahmad under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Shri. Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS, at a checkpoint at Shalpora near graveyard, intercepted one vehicle bearing registration number JK04B-959.
During the search of the said vehicle 24 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from three bags inside the vehicle.
On preliminary verification driver disclosed his identity as Farooq Ahmad Ganie S/O Ghulam Nabi Ganie R/O Sangrampora Sopore.
In this connection, case FIR No. 83/2024 under relevant sections of Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore & investigation has been initiated.
Sopore police urges the common masses to give information regarding narcotics or any other crimes to the nearest police establishment or dial 112.
General Public is requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per the law.
