Former chief minister and National Conference Working president Omar Abdullah Wednesday lashed out at People Democratic Party for checking the patience of the people by delaying the government formation. Accusing PDP of doublespeak, Omar said that the PDP is neither forming the government nor dissolving the Assembly. “I ran the government on 28 MLAs for six years, and did whatever I could do for the development of the state. Today, PDP has 28 MLAs and see what the situation is. Governor rule has been imposed twice in a year. PDP speaks in two voices,” Omar said. “First they say alliance (with BJP) will continue. PDP said that Agenda of Alliance will be reviewed, and then they said that the Agenda of Alliance is sacred and will take forward. If that is the case, I request Mehbooba ji to form the government. If your father (Mufti Mohammad Sayeed) could not reach to the people, then you do that. NC will not create any hurdles for you to form the government,” Omar said while addressing workers in Beerwah Assembly segment in Budgam district. Omar said that if fresh elections are held in the state, NC will win majority seats and will form the government on its own. “And if you don’t have to form the government, then dissolve the Assembly so that fresh elections are held and let people decide again. But PDP will not ask for fresh elections because the party is afraid of going before the people. And the party knows that if they ask for fresh elections, NC will win a complete majority seats and form the government,” he said. The former chief minister said that Mehbooba Mufti is using his late father’s strategy to make people wait for the government. “People will not wait longer. Mufti Sahab made people to wait for the government last year, but then the situation was different due to floods as people were waiting for flood relief. But when he formed the alliance with BJP, people did not oppose the alliance much as they were suffering due to absence of the government,” Omar said. “Mehbooba ji is also using the same strategy that she will make the people wait and then people will plead before her to form the government. But people will not do the same this time.” The NC working president said that people are not complaining about the Governor rule because of the failure of the PDP-BJP government to deliver. “Today, I am surprised that people are not complaining the absence of the government or a minister because the PDP-BJP government failed to deliver before the people in the 10 months,” Omar said.
