Srinagar, June 8 : Kupwara district on Friday was virtually turned into a fortress during the visit of Indian home minister Rajnath Singh.
Reports said that all roads leading to the venue were sealed and no public movement was allowed. Security establishment had established checkpoints at an entry and exit points leading to the venue.
Accompanied by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta, and MOS in PMO Jatindar Singh, Rajnath visited District Police Line Kupwara.
The Home Minister paid floral tributes to the police martyrs at the martyr’s gallery and thereafter addressed the police personnel and CRPF at DPL Kupwara. He paid rich tributes to the role of martyrs in ensuring peaceful future for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The home minister said that he was pleased to have a personal interaction with the personnel. The interaction was followed up by a group photograph session.
The Home Minister also interacted with delegations from various areas of the district and listened to their demands. He assured them that all of the projected issues would be looked into. (GNS)
