Junaid Matto, Sheikh Imran among three in fray for Srinagar Mayor’s post

Srinagar, Nov 20: The Srinagar city is all set to have it’s elected Mayor on November 25 for which three candidates are in the fray.

Secretary Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Mohd Akbar Sofi told news agency that three canidates have filed their nomination papers for the post of Mayor as the deadline for the nominations is ending on Saturday.

“Former Mayor, Junaid Azim Matto, Former Deputy Mayor Sheikh Imran and Aijaz Rasool of Congress are the candidates who are in the fray for the elections,” he told over phone.

The elections are going to be held on 25th November at the council hall of of the corporation, he said.

Pertinently, the post was lying vacant for more than five months, after the former Mayor Junaid Matto, who is also in the fray was ousted out from the chair through a no-confidence motion on June 16. (KDC)
