Pulwama attack: Fear grips Kashmiri students in Dehradun after ‘mob attacks’

Srinagar: Fear gripped Kashmiri students studying in different colleges of Dehradun after a mob thrashed some students.

A Kashmiri student informed Kashmir Reader over phone that in Sudhowala locality a mob barged into the rented accommodation of a Kashmiri student and thrashed him.

However, the timely intervention of the landlady saved the students from the wrath of the mob.

He said that two Kashmiri students studying at Subaharti university were whisked away by a mob and then beaten. “They were later released.”

He said that the mob raised slogans against Kashmiri asking them to leave the state. “The mobsters were yelling that Kashmiris killed CRPF personnel and were terrorists.”

“In DBIT college some local youth barged into the college and were looking for Kashmiri students.”

The students have appealed the authoritiues to ensure their safety.

Pertinently former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, appealed Home Minister Rajnath Singh to direct all states to ensure safety of Kashmiri students.

“My earnest appeal to @rajnathsingh ji to please issue directions to all state governments to take special care in areas/colleges/institutions where Kashmiris are residing/studying. They are soft targets in a surcharged atmosphere,” he tweeted.“`
