Geelani Calls For Shutdown in Shopain

Date:

Making a fervent appeal to observe a complete shutdown in Shopian district and its peripheral areas on 29th may to commemorate the gruesome incident of rape and murder of Asia and Neelofer on May 2009, at the hands of Indian occupation forces, All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman, Syed Ali Geelani said that Jammu and Kashmir being a heavily deployed military occupied zone in the world, has become most vulnerable place to protect life, honour and especially the chastity of women folk.

Recalling the painful incident, Hurriyat chairman termed it a heinous crime against humanity and expressed dismay on the dubious and malicious role played by the law enforcement agencies and legal authorities with regard to making vain efforts to trample down the eyewitnesses and other credentials of this case.

While demanding a high level probe by United Nations Human Rights Commission, pro-freedom leader said that the rape and murder of the dou sisters was committed in the broad-daylight, but culprits are still at large, which speaks volumes about the Indian designs to use rape of women as a war strategy.

Expressing his grave concern on the heavy military presence in Jammu and Kashmir, the veteran leader said that human rights violations and military presence, having strong correlation needs a serious notice by the United Nations Human Rights Commission to help resolve Kashmir dispute and bring an end to the present miserable and volatile situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
