Youth drowns after boat capsizes in river Jehlum of north Kashmir

Srinagar, June 23 : A 21-year-old youth drowned after a boat capsized in river Jehlum near Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Sunday.

Reports reaching GNS said that the youth namely Lateef Ahmad Dar (21) son of Reyaz Ahmad Dar of Banyari Hajin also boarded his bike in the boat which capsized in the middle of the river leading to his death due to drowning.

The incident occurred when the youth was trying to cross the river, they said.

A police officer also confirmed the incident and said that a search operation was launched immediately by police and local volunteers.

The officer said that the search team later retrieved the body and taken him to nearby hospital for medico legal formalities. (GNS)
