Bandipora, Mar 10 : Even after ten days since the Educational Institutions were reopened in Kashmir, the Government Higher Secondary School in Kulshay a remote village of Gurez is still closed for a want of teaching staff.

Locals told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that at least ten days have passed now since the schools were reopened in Kashmir, “no teacher has yet come to the school to perform their duties which is affecting the education of children’s in the area.”

“We want to ask the government to set up a good education here if they want to educate our children in schools,” they said.

“It’s been ten days today and our children are coming to school every day but there is no teacher there to teach them. This is a total injustice to our children,” the locals said.

When the administration knew in advance that the schools would open on March 1, they had to make arrangements in advance, locals alleged, adding the border areas have always been ignored by the government.

On Tuesday, the students and locals registered a protest against the administration.

“We are not asking the administration to have 15 teachers here. There should be at least ten teachers in the school to teach students,” Mehraj Lone another local said.

The details available with KNO revealed that the 29 lecturer posts lying vacant in six schools of Gurez educational zone while 11 of those 29 are lying vacant in the Kilshay school.

Meanwhile, locals urged the administration to provide teachers in the Government Higher School Kulshay as soon as possible so that the students can resume their studies—(KNO)
