108 staff felicitated by DHSK For Conducting Successful Delivery Inside Ambulance In Tral

Director Health services Kashmir Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Rather today felicitated EMT Umar Tariq and Pilot Ravinder Singh of 108 Jammu & Kashmir Emergency Medical services here in Directorate of Health services Bemina, Srinagar for conducting successful delivery of a women inside the ambulance while patient was brought to hospital from Home. Chief Medical Officer district, PulwamaDr.Haseena Mir and Block Medical Officer Dr.Virendar singh was also present during the event.

During the Event DHS Kashmir lauded the 108 emergency services for playing crucial role in patient care especially in pregnancy and trauma emergencies by narrowing gap between patient and health institutions. Ambulances 108 are well-equipped with all kinds of medical facilities, and are manned by well-trained Emergency Medical Technicians in life support skills.

Pertinent to mentioned here that The emergency medical technician of 108 ambulance services on 26th March’23 helped woman to deliver a baby girl in the 108 ambulance emergency vehicle at Sofigund, Aripal village in district Pulwama. The ambulance staff had conduct the delivery at around 3:00 AM early morning.

NaseemaBano, a 29-year-old woman from Sofigund, Aripal village district Pulwama had acute labour pain on Sunday. The family immediately called on toll free no. 108 and narrated her condition.

Umar Tariq, emergency medical technician of the 108 ambulance and Ravindersingh the pilot of ambulance, rushed to the spot. It turned out that the woman was in labour and there was no time to take her to hospital.


EMT observed that crowning of the head was seen , looking at the situation, EMT decided to conduct the delivery in Ambulance. EMT took Advice from ERCP Dr.Nirmolak singh and successfully conducted the delivery in the ambulance.


After she delivered a baby girl in the ambulance, the 108 Ambulance staff safely shifted her to the government hospital SDH Tral for further medical care.


108 ambulance service launched on 24th March’20 has completed 3 years of operations in Jammu and Kashmir and has proved to be boon in pregnancy related emergencies as many as 61097 pregnancy related emergencies were reported at 108 Emergency Response Centre and 759 successful deliveries were conducted in ambulance as well as at scene by 108 ambulance staff.
