12 persons die due to COVID in J&K, toll 300

SRINAGAR, July 24: Twelve more persons died due to Coronavirus on Friday in Jammu and Kashmir, taking the toll of deaths to 300.

Officials told the Kashmir Despatch that J&K on Friday reported 12 more COVID related deaths.

They said among the fatalities include a 75-year-old man from Saderbal Srinagar, a 65-year-old man from Maharaj Gunj Srinagar, a 65-year-old woman from Malaknag Anantnag, a 58-year-old IRP Sub Inspector from Jammu,  a 44-year-old shopkeeper from Karan Bagh Satwari, a 68-year-old woman from Sopore, a 70-year-old male from Rainawari Srinagar, a 75-year-old Lady from Peerbagh Srinagar and a 60-year-old male patient from Khanyar Srinagar, a 50-year-old woman from Tangmarg and a 60-year-old woman from Dub Ganderbal.

An official at SMHS hospital told Kashmir Despatch that A 65-year-old man from Maharaj Gunj Srinagar having “bilateral pneumonia” died at the SMHS hospital. “He was admitted on July 22.

A 75-year-old man from Saderbal Srinagar died at SKIMS Soura, three days after he was admitted to the hospital, an official informed Kashmir Despatch.

A 70-year-old male from Rainawari died at CD hospital here. He was brought to casualty in “gasping state at 12:35 pm on Friday.” official said.

Sources at SKIMS Bemina told this newspaper that a 75-year-old lady from Peerbagh Srinagar died at the facility on Friday.

A 65-year-old woman from Malaknag area of Anantnag having underlying ailments “Rheumatoid arthritis, pneumonia, and hypertension” died due to COVID-19, two days after she was admitted to the Government Medical College Anantnag official sources told Kashmir Despatch.

Another woman, an 80-year-old from Sarnal Anantnag with “AFI, HTN, and RTI pneumonia” died at the same hospital, officials added.

A 50-year-old woman from Tangmarg and a 60-year-old woman from Dub Ganderbal died at SKIMS Soura on Friday evening.

Meanwhile, Jammu reported two fresh COVID related deaths including an Assistant Sub Inspector in Indian Reserve Police and a 44-year-old shopkeeper from Karan Bagh Satwari.

With 12 more deaths, the death toll due to COVID-19 has reached to 300 in J&K including 278 from Kashmir division and 22 from Jammu division.

Meanwhile, 508 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 35 from Jammu Division and 473 from Kashmir Division.
