14 families rendered homeless after major fire in Baramulla

Baramulla : As many as 14 families were rendered homeless after their houses were reduced to ashes in a devastating fire in old town area of Baramulla on Saturday.

Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said fire broke out in one of the residential house at old town area and spread fast due to the hot breeze.

The attempts by the locals, fire service department, army, police who tried to douse the flames by pouring water proved futile as the fire completely gutted as many as nine houses

Household properties worth crores of rupees, including local ornaments, perished in the fire. However, there were no reports of any casualty.

The victims including Zahoor Ahmad,Shabir Ahmad,Aijaz Ahmad Mir,Shafqat Ahmad Sofi,Farooq Ahmad Sofi, Ghulam Hassan Khan,
Ghulam Nabi Shiekh, Abdul Rumaina Shiekh, Abdul Habib Shiekh and others.

A police officer told Kashmir Despatch a case has been registered.

Meanwhile, fire victims appealed local admin as well as state government to help them reconstruct their houses by extending monitory assistance in their favor.
