Every Effort to be made to develop Sports Infras, says DC B’la
Baramulla, January 29: With an aim to inculcate sports zeal among our young and aspiring sports enthusiasts, 15 days long skiing course was today concluded here at the famous tourist destination Gulmarg with Deputy Commissioner Baramulla as the chief guest.
Programme was organized by Indian Institute of Skiing and Monitoring (IISM) during which, apart from locals skiers, young players from different regions of the country participated.
On the occasion, Principal IISM J S Dhillon informed the gathering about the programme wherein he said that both foundational as well as basic training module was imparted among the participants. He further informed that during the said period, the skiers were acquainted with different techniques regarding the game.
Deputy Commissioner in his speech, hailed the participants and said that such events plays a greater role in boosting the tourism sector. He said that every possible step shall be taken to develop sports infrastructure besides reiterating administration’s commitment to develop winter tourism at the venue. Moreover, he termed the participants as the ambassadors of peace and urged upon them to motivate others towards the game.He also informed that under youth engagement programme, two groups of volunteers comprising 20 persons each were sent on an exposure tour whereas the training programme for another group has been launched and shall be subsequently sent to an exposure tour.
Meanwhile, DC distributes awards among the best performing participants for their felicitation.
