17 local militants active in North Kashmir : DIG

Baramulla : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said that 17 local militants are active in northern region of Kashmir.


Deputy Inspector General of Police North Kashmir, Suleman Chaudhary talking with reporters in the sidelines of National Police Day function which held at police line in Baramulla told that there are 17 local militants active in north Kashmir and some foreigners and operations are continue to kill them.


He said that exact figure is not available but some foreign militants along with around 17 local militants are active in Sopore, Handwara and other parts of north Kashmir. He said that we are doing operations in a way to restrict their movement and subsequently to kill them.


While answering ceasefire violation incidents DIG North Kashmir Suleman Chaudhary said that police is always working shoulder to shoulder with civil administration for the safety of civilians living along line of control (LOC).
