Srinagar, Jan 24 : At least 176 projects have been taken up by the Roads and Building (R&B) department across the Valley and 90 among them have been completed, Chief Engineer, Sajad Ahmad Naqeeb said on Wednesday.
Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Chief Engineer said that currently, 176 projects are underway with an estimated cost of Rs 76.22 crores.
The road maintenance and macadamization projects are divided into three sectors, and approximately 90 projects have been completed, he said, adding that in the Financial Year 2024-2025, the department is expected to complete all the ongoing projects.
Naqeeb said the road maintenance and macadamization processes are being carried out in three sectors, including the UT government sector, R&B Nabard sector and the CRF sector.
In the Nabard sector, there are about 176 ongoing projects with an estimated cost of 76.22 crores, and around 90 projects have been completed, said the Chief Engineer adding the goal is to complete all ongoing projects by the financial year 2024-2025.
He mentioned that work is progressing diligently on the three major flyovers on the busiest Bypass road, including Nowgam, Sanatnagar and Bemina.
Regarding Sanatnagar Bypass flyover, he stated that the work is expected to be completed by September 2024 while the Nowgam and Bemina flyovers are expected to be completed in April this year.
Speaking about the role of R&B department’s in the Smart City project, he mentioned they have been working on IG road and are focusing on the development of footpaths.
About Boulevard road, he added that the construction of footpaths has been already taken up and one side of the portion has been completed and the work on second will be started soon—(KNO)
