1st Water Skiing Course concluded in Manasbal Lake

Indian Institute of Skiing & Mountaineering (IISM) completed its first water ski course today in which 30 students from various parts of the country including many from Kashmir participated.

It is for the first time that such course has been conducted by the IISM in Manasbal Lake which is said to be deepest lake of about 43 feet depth.

A graduation ceremony was held at Manasbal Lake in which Shri G N Itoo, KAS, Director Tourism Kashmir was the chief guest who gave away the prizes/certificates to the participants.

Amongst students were Engineers/Doctors & school/college/university students.

Prop. Alok Sharma, Principal, IISM, welcomed all the guests and briefed about the various activities being undertaken by the institute under the dynamic leadership in the MOT.

He said that adventure training is very essential part of our education to develop the personality of our youth which cannot be done in the protected environments of schools & colleges. He said IISM will be conducting 01 more water skiing course which has already been booked by students.

IISM is very popular Institute of the Nation and plays a very vital role to promote tourism in the country. The institute has world class imported skiing equipment and an excellent team of instructors to impart training of very high standards.

Adventure training motivates students to face all challenges of life in cheerful way and distracts them from social evils. Institute provides best administrations and all comforts are provided to the students.

G N Itoo, KAS, Director Tourism Kashmir expressed his deep sense of satisfaction on the excellent conduct of training by IISM. He said he is very happy to see the hard work put in by staff of IISM to not only revive this institute but also make it the best in South East Asia.

He said such courses are very important to make our youth self reliant. He told that in such courses one develops a strong bonding with their peers which lasts for rest of their life.

Principal IISM said that Kashmir is the most beautiful place on the earth and students after completing this course should become our ambassadors to tell their families and friends to visit Kashmir and enjoy this paradise. He said there is a misconception and fear created by certain vested interest in the mind of the people to not visit Kashmir which can be dispelled by students of IISM.

He said our courses generate employment opportunities for the local youth who after courses engage in adventure tourism as guides and instructors. These courses also help to develop the personality of the participants through their exposure to challenging situations. Students expressed their deep sense of satisfaction on high standards of the facilities. They all praised the hard working staff for giving them best training and facilities of their life time.

Itoo, KAS, Director Tourism, Kashmir, Shri G M Bhat, KAS, Chief Executive Officer, Manasbal Development Authority, Shri Qazi Shabir Ahmad, Principal, IHM, Shri Bashir Ahmad, Dy.SP, SDRF, Shri Sheikh Manzoor Ahmad, SHO, Safapora, Media and 13 RR for their support in conducting the water skiing activities in Manasbal Lake.
