2 girls rescued in snow hit avalanche in Uri

Baramulla : Two teenaged girls were rescued by group of locals from snow hit avalanche in north Kashmir’s Boniyar village on Monday.

Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said that two missing girls were rescued after they were struck by an avalanche in Dadrun area of Boniyar village in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday.


Reports said that the snow avalanche hit the area , trapping the two teenaged girls locals immediately swung into action and managed to pull out the girls from the snow and saved their lives.

Both teenaged girls were identified as Shuguffta Bano (18) and Meema Bano (15) both residents of Dadrun Boniyar.

It is pertinent to mention here that heavy snowfall also damaged one house and a shop in Dadrun Boniyar on Monday.

The Kashmir Valley woke up to a wide carpet of snow on Monday as life remained paralysed due to heavy snowfall, even as the weatherman predicted respite from Tuesday.


“Due to bad weather and heavy snowfall at Srinagar Airport all flights were cancelled for today, while the valley remained cut off from rest of the world on the second consecutive day due to the closure of Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
