2 militants, 21 associates arrested, 5 hideouts busted in June, shows J&K police data

SRINAGAR, July 1: At least two militants and 21 associates have been arrested by the police besides busting five hideouts during June in Jammu and Kashmir, shows police data.

As per the official data available with news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service, two militants and 21 associates have been arrested by police in the previous month in J&K.
Two times IEDs were destroyed, as per the data.

As per data available police recovered explosive material in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on June 3.

As per details available with news agency police said,“Based on a credible input about possession of illegal explosive materials, Anantnag police raided the residential house of Adil Maqbool Wani, son of Muhammad Maqbool Wani of Nanil and recovered 24 Kgs of illegal explosive material, which was packed in polythene bags and concealed in Nylon bags.”

On June 3, security forces busted a militant hideout in Kishtwar district of Jammu province of the Union Territory. Police in Kishtwar alongwith Army’s 17 RR battalion and 52 battalion of CRPF during an operation in Tokranar area, Bela Nala, Chicha in Kishtawar recovered one AK56 rifle, one magazine of rifle, 27 bullets, one pistol, one pistol magazine, six pistol rounds and one UBGL grenade.

On June 6: Awantipora Police prevented three youth from joining militant ranks and arrested two militant associates from the police district.

Details available with news agency reveal that Awantipora police along with security forces prevented three youth from joining militant ranks. They have been identified as Illyas Amin Waini, Abrar Ahmad Reshi both residents of Mandoora Tral and Ubaid Ahmad Shah of Shaldraman Tral,” The two militant associates were identified as Rizwan Ahmad Wani and Rayees Ahmad Chopan both residents of Mandoora Tral.

On June 8, Baramulla police arrested one Over Ground Worker (OGW) during a naka at Kralhar who was identified as Irfan Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Nabi of Shatlu Baramulla.

On June 8, Kupwara police recovered a huge quantity of weapons in Keran sector in north Kashmir in a joint operation.

A joint operation was launched by Kupwara police and Army’s 6 RR unit in Keran village along the Line of Control (LoC) and recovered five AK 47, 15 AK Magazine, 443 AK rounds, two UBGL, 57 UBGL grenade, six 9mm Pistols, 12 9mm Magazine, 9mm rounds 77 Hand Grenade and AK sling 2.

On June 9: Forces detected a suspicious material near orchards of Targapora at Ladoora, Rafiabad near Baramulla—Handwara highway.

On June 10: Police in Rajouri district booked and arrested a man for his ‘sensitive’ and ‘objectionable’ comments on Facebook.

“Handwara Police busted a narco-militant module of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) on June 11 and recovered Rs 1.34 Crore cash and Heroine worth Rs 100 Crore from the possession of three LeT associates in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. The militant associates were identified as Iftikhar Indrabi, a resident of Rajwar, Handwara, a notorious drug peddler, Abdul Moomin Peer of Waskura, Handwara, and Islam ul Haq peer of Waskura, Handwara,” it says.

Figures reveal that on June 11, a suspect was apprehended at Pathanpora area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, 1 Chinese pistol, 1 grenade & 6 AK magazines and 147 rounds were also recovered from his procession.

On June 12, Shopian police arrested a militant from Khojpora village of Zainapora who was identified as Zakir Ahmad Khan. One 9MM pistol besides other ammunition was recovered from his possession.

On June 13, forces destroyed a suspected improvised explosive device (IED), planted on the roadside along Bandipora-Srinagar highway near Gamroo-Lawdara crossing in north Kashmir’s Bandipora.

On June 18, a local militant of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) outfit was arrested by security forces in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district who was identified as as Imran Nabi Dar son of Ghulam Nabi Dar a resident of Redwani Kulgam, the police details reveal.

On June 20, three Over Ground Workers (OGW) of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were arrested during a Cordon and Search Operation in Bomai and Tarzoo areas of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district who were identified as Shabir Ahmad Mir @Molvi, son of Muhammad Sultan Mir of Brath Kalan Sopore, Muhammad Abbas Mir, son of Abdul Rashid Mir of Brath Kalan Sopore and Fahim Nabi Bhat @Doctor, son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat of Tarzoo Sopore.

The figures reveal that on June 23, the government forces busted a militant hideout in Marha village in Surankote area of Poonch district, one Universal Machine Gun and 222 cartridges were recovered there.

On June 23, Sopore police arrested four Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant associates and claimed to have solved grenade incident case. The arrested militant associates were identified as Irfan Ahmed Mir S/O Mohd Maqbool Mir R/O Putkha, Irfan Ahmed Khan S/O Gulam Mohd Khan R/O Putkha, Qaiser Rehman Khan S/O Ab Rehman Khan R/O Putkha,Suhail Ahmed Ganie S/O Gulam Mohd Ganie R/O Chanpora, Athoora.

Security Forces claimed to have busted a militant hideout in the forest area of Yawran Keller on June 24 in South Kashmir’s Shopian district, incriminating material was recovered from the hideout.

On June 25, Budgam police and army’s 2RR arrested five associates from the Narbal area during a search operation. The arrested militant associates were identified as Imran Rashid resident of Kurhama Budgam, Ifshan Ahmad Ganie resident of check Kawoosa, Owais Ahmad resident of Kawoosa khalisa, Mohsin Qadir resident Kurhama Budgam and Aabid Rather Resident of Archanderhama Magam.

On June 25, Jammu and Kashmir police in Mendhar recovered heroin like substance worth crores in Poonch district.

Kupwara police on June 27 claimed to have arrested two narco smugglers along with pistols and narcotics worth Rs 65 Crore, saying that the dup was acting on the directions of Pakistan based militant outfit handlers. The arrested smugglers were identified as Manzoor Ahmad Lone and Ghulam Muhammad Lone, both the residents of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

On June 28, militants hideout was busted by forces in Babapora Zainapora in south Kashmir, Arms and ammunition were recovered.

As reported by news agency, last month 49 militants were killed in which 22 alone in south Kashmir’s Shopian.(KINS)
