India has subjected people of Jammu Kashmir to worst kind of oppression and torture from many decades. This is a glaring example of its unwillingness to honor freedom and human rights of people. Therefore the republic day of a nation that has snatched the freedom of a poor nation, can never be a day of joy for the oppressed people. People of Kashmir will observe a complete shutdown on 26th January.This was stated by the chairman of Jammu Kashmir liberation front (JKLF) Mohammad Yasin Malik in a statement to KNS. While calling for a complete shutdown and strike on Tuesday 26th January 2016, Mohammad Yasin Malik said that India celebrates its republic day on 26th January every year and calls itself the biggest democracy of the world but this is the nation that has snatched the democratic right of Kashmiris by its military might and is continuously denying Kashmiris this right. He said that it was India and its leaders like Jawahar Lal Nehru who pledged before international community that India will give Kashmiris the right of self-determination but now today Kashmiris when ask for fulfillment of the same pledges are being killed and brutalized by the same India that too in the name of democracy and peace. Not only this but India has subjected people of Jammu Kashmir to worst kind of oppression and torture for demanding freedom. Mohammad Yasin Malik said that the republic day of a nation that has by military might snatched the freedom of a poor nation and has denied us our basic democratic right can never be the day of joy for the oppressed people of Kashmir and because of this we Kashmiris are compelled to observe this day as a black day. He said that people of Jammu Kashmir through their complete shutdown and strike will observe this day 26th January as a black day. All kinds of transport, business centers and other activities will come to stand still and Kashmiris through their peaceful protest will convey message to the whole world that people of Jammu Kashmir despite all oppression are rendering sacrifices for freedom. Mohammad Yasin Malik while expressing concern over the plight of those families whose dear ones are missing in Indian custody from long said that the miseries these families tolerate everyday is unbearable. He said that among such families Zargar family is also one of the victims as their dear one Siraj ud din Farooqi was arrested by Indian forces from Jamia Masjid area in 1992 and till date he is missing in forces custody. Mohammad Yasin Malik said that despite many efforts his kith and kin have failed to get any news of him and so-called rulers are continuously in a denial mood. Mohammad Yasin Malik said that cases like these are a glaring example of Indian anti-democratic behavior and oppressive attitude. Meanwhile Mohammad Yasin Malik expressed his heartfelt grief and sorrow over the sad demise of mother of Manzoor Ahmad Dar of Rawalpora who is missing in custody from last many years. Mohammad Yasin Malik has also expressed sorrow over the demise of wife of Marhoom Khawaja Hajji Muhammad sultan Dar of Hyderpora who was also grandmother of JKLF senior Mushtaq Ahmad Dar and mother of another resistance leader marhoom GM Dar. It is worth to mention that Marhoom Khawaja Haji Muhammad sultan Dar was himself a resistance leader and his son Marhoom Ghulam Muhammad Dar also remained with resistance till his last day. Mohammad Yasin Malik along with the delegation visited Rawalpora and expressed solidarity with the family of missing Manzoor Ahmad Dar. While expressing condolences to the bereaved families Mohammad Yasin expressed solidarity with them. While praying for the heavenly abode of the deceased, Mohammad Yasin Malik also prayed for the Sabr I Jamil to bereaved families.
