Pulwama, June 5: In a bid to strengthen environmental conservation, officers and personnel of the 23 JKAP IR Battalion conducted a plantation drive at its headquarters in Lethpora, Pulwama, on Thursday.
The drive, held under the theme “Towards a Greener Tomorrow” and in pursuance of directions from PHQ and APHQ, focused on enhancing green cover and promoting ecological sustainability in the region. Saplings of indigenous species were planted by the unit’s officers and jawans.
The initiative underscores the battalion’s commitment to environmental protection, climate resilience, and creating a cleaner and healthier surroundings, officials said.The plantation drive will continue at the Battalion Headquarters, with more saplings planned to be planted in the coming days.
This effort is part of broader greening initiatives being undertaken by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir to support environmental conservation amid growing concerns over climate change.
