Teacher’s Killing: ACR Pulwama appointed as inquiry officer, report to be submitted in 4 weeks

A day after a teacher from Awantipora died in Police custody, the magisterial probe has been shifted to Pulwama.

The magisterial inquiry at Srinagar has been also closed and a fresh magisterial inquiry has been initiated in Pulwama district of South Kashmir and a report sought in “four weeks”.   

On Tuesday, a police spokesman said: “In pursuance of terror case investigation, one suspect Rizwan Pandit resident of Awantipora was in police custody. The person died in police custody. In this matter, while following the procedure laid down in section 176 of CrPC a magisterial inquiry is underway. Separately, the police investigation has also been initiated in the jurisdictional area of the incident.”  

Rizwan was principal of Sabir Abdullah Jobwarara Awantipora School, a private school and according to his family, he was detained two days back.

Talking to GNS, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said that after the police informed that the incident occurred in Krew area of Pulwama following which case has been shifted in Pulwama.

Now Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Pulwama Qazi Masood has been appointed as an inquiry officer and a report has been sought in four weeks, an official from district administration Pulwama said. (GNS)
