Al Umar Mujahideen claims Srinagar attack
Srinagar, May 23 : Three persons sustained minor injuries in a grenade blast at Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday.
Reports reaching GNS said that unknown persons lobbed a grenade towards police station Awantipora. However, the device exploded outside resulting in minor injuries to three civilians.
The trio was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, they said.
In similar incident, unknown persons lobbed a grenade towards the 117 bn CRPF bunker near Tigore Hall in Srinagar. The device exploded some distance away from the bunker. No one was injured in the attack.
A senior police officer while confirming both attacks said that they have taken cognizance and started investigations into it.
Meanwhile, Al Umar Mujahideen has claimed the responsibility of Srinagar grenade attack.
The outfit in a tele-statement to GNS said its cadres carried out the attack near Tigore Hall in Srinagar.
After carrying out the attack, the cadres reached their destinations safely, the statement said. (GNS)
