34 traders booked in Bandipora, Rs 30250 fine realized

BANDIPORA, MARCH 04: A market checking squad of Legal Metrology realized fine of Rs 30250 from erring shopkeepers in Bandipora district during the month of February, an official said.


Taking strong note of the complaints, the district administration has launched a massive district-wide inspection drive to curb over pricing and take immediate action against instances of violations.


The Department of Legal Metrology lead by Assistant Controller conducted inspection of various business establishments including vegetable, fruit sellers, poultry, mutton sellers, Kiryana, Bakery, LPG distributors and fuel dispensing pumps at Mantrigam, {lan, Sumlar, Madwan, Hajin, Malangam, Quil, Onagam and Patushai areas of the district. During the inspection, 34 traders were booked under different laws for violation of various legal metrology laws and a fine of Rs 30250 was imposed on erring traders.


On the occasion, officers stressed on the traders to follow the rules in letter and spirit and also asked the vendors to follow the packaged commodity rules and other Metrology Acts. They said the drive will continue on regular basis across all district markets to keep a check on traders and shopkeepers for indulging in overcharging and other unethical activities.
