3rd Yogasana Sports Championship held in Tral


PULWAMA, Aug 13: For the first time, the district sports championship was held in Tral area of Pulwama district on Saturday, which was attended by a large number of athletes.

Titled as ‘3rd District Pulwama Yogasana Sports Championship’, the sports event was held in Indoor Stadium in Bajwani area, some 2 kilometres from Sub District headquarter.

Additional deputy commissioner (ADC), Tral, Shabir Ahmad Raina, and Station House Officer (SHO), Abdul Rehman, were the special guests on the occasion.

The championship continued throughout the day, where athletes participated in ‘Yogasana’, which has been recently introduced as a new sport in the Khelo India Games.

While addressing the participants, ADC Tral SA Raina, appreciated the athletes for showing extraordinary talent during the championship.

He asked them to work hard and hailed the role of organisers in conducting such championships in Tral sub district.

Many other speakers, present in the event, also addressed the participating athletes, and encouraged them to take part in such competitions.

The athletes who performed well, during the championship, were awarded with trophies by the management.

Talking to Kashmir Despatch, renowned coach from Tral, Feroz Ahmad said: “This is for the first time that Tral hosted such a big championship. We are trying hard to conduct more championships in Tral’s indoor stadium, and we request Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha Ji to ensure more facilities, particularly washroom facilities, around the stadium.”
