4 drug peddlers held in Tral

PULWAMA, Aug 19: Four drug peddlers were arrested in Tral area of Awantipora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday, and the police also claimed to have recovered 433 Kg grinded poppy straw.

An official told Kashmir Despatch that “Police Station Tral received specific information that one person namely Showkat Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Nadar Tral has indulged in drug peddling and hoarded huge quantities of narcotic substances in his residential house.”

“On receipt of this information, a police party led by SHO Police Station Tral along with Executive Magistrate raided the specific spot. During the search, officers were able to recover 433Kgs of grinded Poppy Straw from the residential house.” he said.

The accused along with other three associates were arrested on the spot, they have been identified as Tawseef Ah Rather son of Ghulam Rasool resident of Panner Tral, Muzafar Ahmad Lone son of Ali Mohammad resident of Check Noorpora and M Saleem Khan son of Ghulam Ahmad Khan resident of Handoora Tral.

They have been shifted to the police station where they remain in custody, he said. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 132/2022  under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Tral and further investigation has been initiated, he added.
