4 panchayat members resign in north Kashmir

Bandipora, 21 August: After a brief lull in the resignations four panchayat members resigned from their post of ward members and posted the resignation letters on Social networking sites on Friday from northern Kashmir’s Ajas village in Bandipora district.

According to news service Kashmir dot Com – (KDC) all the four panches belong to Ajas tehsil of Bandipora. These include Naseer Ahmad Rather son Attaullah Rather from Patumohalla Ajas, Mohammad Khazam Gojar Baniya, son of Abdullah Gojar of Bazipora Ajas, Mumtaz Ahmad Rather son of Ghulam Nabi Rather of Patumohalla Ajas and Mohammad Ashraf Lone son of Sultan lone of Chinpazpora Ajas.

In the four resignation letters purported to them that are viral on social media they have written that “we were panchayat members of our respective wards, but from today onwards we are not associated with anyone, we also resign from the post of ward members, we are common people now, we don’t have connections from anyone”.

One of the resigning ward member Naseer Ahmad confirmed their resignation commenting further on the issue.

Last month BJP’s former Bandipora district President Waseem Bari, was killed, along with his father Basheer Ahmad and brother Umer Basheer, outside his residence. Police had then said two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) members were involved in their killings .
