Baramulla: Police in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday arrested five gamblers and recovered playing cards along with stake money of ₹ 2320 from them.
Police in a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch said that on reliable information regarding the presence of gamblers at Chennad Delina jurisdiction of Police Station Baramulla/ Police Post Delina, reacting on the information, Police Party of Police Post Delina under the supervision of PSI Shaib Mohammad, IC PP Delina rushed towards the spot and held three gamblers from the said spot who identified as Ghulam Nabi Bazaz son of Gh Qadir of Nasimbagh Sopore, Naveed Nabi Bhat son of Gh Nabi Bhat of Khawajabagh, Gh Hassan Bhat of Mohd Zaman of Shiapora Delina.
The police statement reads that playing cards alongwith stake money of ₹ 2320/- were recovered from them.
A Case under sections of 13 Gambling Act was registered in Police Station Baramulla and an investigation was set in motion.
Similarly, Police received reliable information regarding the presence of gamblers at Rambailgarh jurisdiction of Police Station Pattan/ Police Post Mirgund, reacting on the information, the Police Party of Police Post Mirgund under the supervision of SI Ather Parvaiz, IC PP Mirgund rushed to spot and held two gamblers from the said spot who identified as Adil Ahmad Khan son of Mohd Ayyoob Khan of Matipora A/P Singhpora Pattan, Shahzad Ahmad Malik son of Gh Ahmad Malik of Singhpora Pattan.
Playing cards along with stake money of ₹ 4000/- were recovered from them.
A case under sections of 13 Gambling Act was registered in Police Station Pattan and an investigation set in motion the police statement further reads.
