Bandipora, Mar 04 : Authorities in Bandipora has left unattended a 50-bed Gynae and Maternity hospital at Pazalpora village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, locals complained on Tuesday.

Official details available , revealed that the hospital was constructed under the Relief and Rehabilitation initiative of NHPC executing agency for 330 Megawatt Kishen Ganga Power Project.

“The construction of the hospital was carried out and completed by the R&B department Bandipora at an estimated cost of Rs 18 crore last year,” the details said.

However, the hospital was dedicated to Covid-19 and was thrown open for only Covid-19 patients last year after the district records the highest number of positive cases in Kashmir.

Soon after when Covid crisis was over the hospital has been left unattended since then.

Locals said that the government has left the building unattended, no one is looking after its maintenance.

Locals said that the windows and glasses of the hospital were broken by some miscreants and the hospital looks like a ghost house.

“We have repeatedly asked the concerned authorities to make this hospital functional properly but nothing has happened yet,” Asif Ahmad a local said.

“We people are taking no benefit from this hospital. While the hospital is ready but due to known reasons, the government has left the hospital deserted,” he said.

Block medical officer (BMO), Bandipora, Dr Masrat Iqbal said that they have started the hospital as sub-centre although it is unauthorized—(KNO)
