52 suspects of COVID-19 traced in Sopore: Officials

Sopore, April 18: As it has been witnessed since the rise of COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir, parts of the northern region, Sopore-Bandipora belt has been declared a red zone for this deadly virus.

With the rapid growth of COVID-19 positive cases in this belt the total toll is 88, in which Bandipora is leading with 76 and Sopore till date has witnessed 12 positive victims along with a single death of COVID-19 victim from both regions respectively.

As COVID-19 is heading forward and adding more fuel by contaminating many people across Sopore-Bandipora belt, administration in Sopore on Friday took an initiative and tracked down the physical contacts and suspects across the belt, out of which scores of people were sent for Isolation and were kept under home quarantine.

A police official while giving details to Kashmir Despatch said, we have traced down 52 suspects, who were sent to GMC Baramulla for screening and out of 52, 15 were kept under isolation at Primary Health Centre Tarzoo as COVID-19 suspects, he said rest were advised to stay inside their homes under quarantine for precautionary measures. He said authorities will keep monitoring and will track down the suspects if found.

Meanwhile, an official in health department Sopore told this newspaper over the phone, not to be panic if someone will be diagnosed with positive for COVID-19, as we have already their records and they were serving quarantine period in their homes as per the guidelines shared by authorities.
