Bandipora, Jan 25: Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested seven over ground workers of two militant outfits from various parts of Bandipora and recovered huge cache of arms from their possession.
During a joint press conference by Senior Superintendent of Police Bandipora Rahul Malik, IPS, CO 14 RR and CO 13 RR said that in a joint operation by police Army’s 13RR, 14 RR units and CRPF apprehended seven OGWs from various parts of the district.
SSP Bandipora said that they were involved in serious offenses like harbouring militants, providing them food, shelter, logistics, transportation and financial assistance from time to time.
He said that the arrested OGWs belong to banned militant outfit Lashkar-i-Toiba and Hizbul Mujahideen.
He said that in this connection two FIR’s have been registered in police station Bandipora and police station Sumbal under FIR No. 05/2020 and 14/2020 respectively under various sections of
UAP Act Arms Act and IPC.
He said that a huge cache of arms, ammunition, explosives and other incriminating material have been recovered during the search.
Those who have been arrested have been identified as Mohamnad Amir Bhat son of Mohammed Subhan Bhat,
Sameer Ahmad Najar son of Gh. Nabi Najar both residents of Chanpora Nadihal, Bandipora, Ashiq Ahmad Ganie son of Gh Nabi Ganie a resident of Sumlar, Waseem Ahmad Khan son of Saif Din Khan, Irshad Ahmad Sheikh son of Gh Mohi-ud-Din Sheiklh both residents of Sadderkot Bala, Hilal Ahmad Wani son of Ali Mohd wani a resident of Wahab Parray Mohalla, Hajin and Altaf Ahmad Dar son of Ab Hameed Dar a resident of Boni Khan Mohalla Hajın
Officials said that huge recoveries of arms and other incriminating materials that were recovered include 853 A.K. 47 Rounds, 18 Pistol Rounds, 11 A.K 47 Magazine, 04 UBGL Thrower, 06 UBGL Grenades, 01 Radio Set Keenwood, 02 Wireless Sets, 2 Pistol, 02 Revolver, 04 RPG rounds and 01 stove.
