8 Militants, 14 Soldiers, and 2 Civilians killed in 2 years in Rajouri


Rajouri, Nov. 23 : Rajouri district in the Jammu region witnessed a sharp rise in militant-related incidents in the last two years.

As per data available with News Agency Kashmir Scroll, eight militants, fourteen soldiers, and two civilians were killed in many anti-militancy operations in the last two years in Rajouri district.

On January 1, 2023, seven civilians of the minority community, including two minors, were safely evacuated and protected by security forces during a militant attack in village Dhangri in Rajouri district.

The security forces swiftly responded to the situation, killing two foreign militants responsible for the attack.

On May 5, 2023, five Army paracommandos lost their lives while successfully preventing a major disaster caused by an IED blast in Kandi, Rajouri.

On April 20, 2023, five Army soldiers displayed incredible valor during an ambush laid by militants in Bhatta Durrian in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district. While they unfortunately lost their lives,

In March–April 2022, the police diligently worked out four separate blasts within a span of 28 days in Koteranka tehsil, Rajouri district. Through their tireless efforts, they identified and apprehended the individuals behind these incidents, ensuring the safety of the local community and maintaining law and order.

On October 11, 2021, five Army soldiers, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), displayed immense bravery during an encounter with militants at Chamrer forests in Surankote tehsil of Poonch district. While the militants managed to escape, the soldiers’ courageous actions prevented any harm to the local population.

On October 16, 2021, four soldiers, including a JCO, exhibited extraordinary bravery while engaging in a gun battle with the same group of militants in Bhatta Durrian in the Mendhar tehsil of Poonch. Despite the militants evading capture, the soldiers ensured the safety of civilians in the area and continued their search operations to maintain security.

On October 30, 2021, despite encountering a mine blast in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district, two Army jawans, including a lieutenant, survived with minor injuries.

Rajouri, which was peaceful for quite a while, has now become a hotspot for militancy.

Meanwhile, an official told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that many militants were killed while attempting to infiltrate from across the border.

He said there is a constant endeavor to disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir, but our alert security forces have thwarted every such attempt, improving the security situation. (KS)
