9 families rendered homeless after fire engulfed last night in Srinagar outskirts

Srinagar : At least nine families became homeless last night after massive fire engulfed Nowpora Tangbagh in outskirts of Srinagar.

According to locals fire broke out Tuesday night which rapidly expanding to the nearby houses resulting in complete damage of around 9 structures in the devastating inferno.However the cause of fire was not asserted.

Inhabitants talking with Kashmir Despatch said that there was no loss of life in the incident.

They (inhabitants) said that once the news spread in the area people in large number especially youth reached to the spot and started rescue operation, carrying water in buckets and other utensils to douse the rising flames.
However, their efforts failed to yield any results till the fire spread in the locality.

Locals alleged that a minor fire incident engulfed the entire area as fire tenders failed to reach on time which proves the irresponsible attitude of the department,” claimed local. They while talking with Kashmir Despatch said that fire service department team even came without water in their tankers.

Meanwhile visiting the spot many civil officers took stock of damaged structures of fire affected victims and assured families for providing all possible help as immediate relief.
