School Edu Deptt likely to adjust surplus teaching staff for fair distribution of teaching staff

Srinagar, Apr 27 : The School Education Department is likely to adjust surplus teaching staff for fair distribution before implementing Annual Transfer Drive (ATD) 2023.

Besides, the department is undecided about the cancellation of deployment of teaching staff.

Officials of the School Education Department told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), “Before ATD-2023 is implemented, we have to adjust surplus teaching staff in such a way so that when the transfer drive is completed, the teaching staff is fairly distributed in all schools.”

He said that the move is aimed to overcome the issue of surplus or deficit teaching staff in educational institutes of Kashmir division.

The official also said, “As of now, there is no decision on cancellation of deployment of teaching staff in schools.” Now, there is no decision on cancellation of deployment of teaching staff.”

Pertinently, many government schools in Kashmir division have either deficit teaching staff or are flooded with surplus teaching—thus affecting the Pupil Teacher Ratio (PTR) and ultimately the quality of education.

Earlier, this week, the School Education Department in a new transfer policy said it may transfer surplus teachers of the department without taking into consideration their period of stay.

In order to address the concerns of employees of the School Education Department pertaining to personnel administration, while fulfilling the primary objective of the department that is to provide quality education to the students, transfer policy for effecting transfers in the department has been notified.

The salient principles of the policy states that Directorates of School Education shall maintain a complete e-database on transfer and postings of employees for effective implementation of transfer policy—(KNO)
