Sopore, Jun 15 : Rampura Rajpura, locally known as “Khudgo Mungloo”, once a hidden gem, is becoming a forever-cherished picnic hotspot in north Kashmir, where the harmony between nature and humans is flourishing. With each passing day, Mungloo is thriving as a peaceful retreat for those seeking solace amidst nature’s embrace.
The village, some 30 kilometers away from the Sopore area of Baramulla district is known for its enchanting landscapes and is nestled between the lush green valleys and towering mountains. The village is emerging as a source of inspiration for artists, a sanctuary for nature enthusiasts, and a gateway to reconnecting with one’s inner self.
Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Ghulam Mohammad, a local of Rampura said there are beautiful natural spots like lush green forests and serene lakes that can attract a lot of tourists in Mungloo.
He said the administration needs to invest in infrastructure like accommodation, restaurants and recreational facilities, which will not only attract tourists but also create job opportunities for the locals.
However, there should be strict regulations in place to regulate tourism activities and prevent any damage to the environment, Mohammad said, adding that there is a dire need to preserve the natural beauty and biodiversity of the area.
Another local Kouser Arafat said, “The installation of the Jio mobile tower has brought immense cheer and relief for us, particularly the students, who were suffering immensely. It had remained untouched by the rapid advancements of technology and is now connected to mobile and the internet which too has added tourist footfall.”
Talking to KNO, Conservator Forests North Kashmir, Irfan Rasool, said that tourist footfall is increasing significantly. “Currently, we are working on ecological aspects of the area which were badly affected by the silt. Soon after this move, we will work for objective development,” he said.
At Mungloo, we have developed tourist attraction points and with the help of district administration, more development works are in consideration and a few are in progress, Irfan said, adding that soon the destination will look more beautified.
“So far, our main focused points are Suderkote Bandipora, Watlab and Ningli in Sopore. We have started a survey for water sports activities in the Watlab and Ningli areas and we are working on it,” he added—(KNO)
