The streets of Sopore resonated with joy on Thursday as the locals swayed to the soulful beats of Sufi Kalaam. This special occasion marked the commemoration of Rahim Sahab Sopore’s day, a revered Sufi poet, which had not been observed for the past 62 years.
Rahim Sahab Sopore, a beloved Sufi saint, garnered a significant following in the area. Although he passed away in 1958, his teachings and philosophy continue to inspire the people of Sopore. The celebration aimed to honor his life and the invaluable contribution he made to the community.
Participants of all ages immersed themselves in the festivities, united by their shared admiration for Rahim Sahab. The highlight of the event was a captivating performance by renowned Sufi singers who had journeyed from various parts of the Kashmir valley.
The event took place at Dak Bunglow Sopore, attracting hundreds of eager listeners who were captivated by the enchanting renditions of Sufi Poet Rahim Sahab’s kalaam. Notably, Gulzar Ganai, Abdul Hameed Teli, and other esteemed Sufi singers graced the stage with their mesmerizing performances.
Speaking to the media, Shariq Maqbool, one of the event organizers, expressed immense pride in commemorating Rahim Sahab Sopore’s day after several decades.
Shariq Ahmad acknowledged Rahim Sahab’s profound spiritual leadership, which left a lasting impact on the people of Sopore.
The organizers’ intention was to ensure that his legacy endures and continues to inspire future generations.
Shariq Ahmad extended gratitude to the local administration and police for their cooperation in organizing the event.
The celebration served as a poignant reminder of Jammu and Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage. Despite the region’s challenges and adversities, the people of Sopore remain resolute in preserving their traditions and celebrating their history.
Meanwhile, people from across the Kashmir valley made pilgrimages to the shrine of Rahim Sahab, paying their heartfelt tributes to the revered Sufi poet.
The program was jointly organized by Kashmir Gulokaar Society, Hayatun Nabi (SW) Sufiya Movement Kashmir GG Productions, in collaboration with Intizamiya Rahim Sahib Sopori (RA) shrine.
The event received support from J&K Culture Academy Art and Languages, Young Sufi Gulokaar Association Kashmir, District Administration Baramula, and Police District Sopore.
