New Delhi, Sept 05 : The Supreme Court on Tuesday reserved the judgement on a batch of pleas challenging the abrogation of Article 370 after hearing the arguments for about 16 days on a day-to-day basis.
As per details, the 5 judge constitutional bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud reserved the judgement after 16 days of hearing on the abrogation of Article 370
The hearings had commenced on August 2 and went on for 16 days. The case had remained dormant for over 3 years with its last listing dating back to March 2020.
The hearing witnessed extensive arguments and discussions over a span of sixteen days, while the Centre put forth its arguments and counter-arguments for the remaining days.
The petitioner counsels argued for the first nine days and stressed upon the unique nature of J&K’s relationship with India.
For the petitioners- Senior Advocates Kapil Sibal, Gopal Subramanium, Zaffar Shah, Rajeev Dhavan, Dushyant Dave, Chander Uday Singh, Dinesh Dwivedi, Shekhar Naphade, Nitya Ramakrishnan, Gopal Sankaranarayanan, Menaka Guruswamy and Advocate Warisha Farasat argued.
While Attorney General for India R Venkataramani, Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta, Additional Solicitor General KM Nataraj, ASG Vikramjeet Banerjee and Advocate Kanu Agarwal argued for the Centre. (Agencies)
