Srinagar: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today visited oilseed (Mustard) fields, vegetable clusters of Budgam district. Director visited different villages including lalagam, buchroo, wathoora, qaisarmulla, zonipora, Chadoora, Gowharpora and took stock of the current scenario of oilseed (mustard) crop.
While talking to the concerned farmers director agriculture expressed his satisfaction and said that this year we are expecting a bumper oilseed(mustard) crop yield. He said the scientific intervention introduced by the department and adopted by the oilseed farmers in their fields have started bearing fruits. Under Holistic agriculture development program, promotion of oilseeds project included several interventions aimed at increasing oilseed production and productivity, he added.
Director agriculture also visited the vegetable fields of different villages and held interaction with the concerned farmers. He said that amid fluctuating weather conditions different vegetable crops need more attention and the technical guidance provided by the department should be followed by the farmers in letter and spirit.
Director Agriculture, directed the concerned officers to work in close coordination with the farmers and guide them in all the pre and post harvest operations.
Director agriculture also inspected soil testing lab Budgam and took stock of the various facilities provided to the farmers by the lab.
Director Agriculture was accompanied by some other officers of the department.
