Kulgam, May 08 : A fresh exchange of fire took place on Wednesday afternoon as a third terrorist has been spotted in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

A top police officer told news agency Kashmir Scroll that firing resumed this afternoon after a night-long halt in Redwani area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

He said that on Tuesday, two terrorists, including one top Commander Basit Dar of Kulgam, were eliminated while the operation was ongoing for the third hiding terrorist.

Pertinently, the area was cordoned off on Monday evening after specific inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area. However, on late Monday night, additional security forces were rushed to the spot to ensure that the terrorists engaged in the encounter did not escape from the area.

The officer said all the routes towards the area have been sealed, and traffic and public movement have also been restricted as a precautionary measure. (KS)
