Won’t waste time on seeking Statehood when it is already promised: Omar Abdullah

Date:

Srinagar, May 12 : National Conference (NC) vice-president and former chief minister Omar Abdullah Sunday stated that his party won’t waste time and energy over seeking Statehood to J&K. He said Home Minister Amit Shah has already given word in the Parliament that J&K will get Statehood soon.

He said that development will not remain our issue as ongoing Lok Sabha elections are not being fought for development but being contested on some else issue.

Speaking to media persons in north Kashmir’s Kupwara over culmination of his seven-day poll campaign in Kupwara, Omar Abdullah as per Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that he will not waste his time over seeking Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. “Why should I waste time on seeking Statehood to J&K, when it is already being assured by Home Minister Amit Shah on the floor of House that J&K will get Statehood back soon,” Omar said.

He said development won’t remain on their prime focus as ongoing Lok Sabha elections are not being fought for development. “This time elections are not being fought for development. It is for some other cause,” he said. (K
