Hello, if you are visiting the border areas of Keran or Karnah, you must first get verified at your concerned police stations. Without a police verification certificate, your movement will be restricted.
An official told Kashmir Despatch that tourists who are planning to visit the Keran and Karnah valleys of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district must have police verification from their concerned police station. Only then will they be given permission to proceed further.
The official said that once they have the police verification certificate from their concerned police stations, they will be given permission to move towards Farkiyan as well as Sadna top.
The official further added that this is the only permission that is open for travelers and tourists to visit these border areas, subject to these conditions.
Pertinently, in the past one or two years, thousands of tourists have visited the areas along the Line of Control (LoC), after the government gave the go-ahead for border tourism.
The decision to open border tourism was taken after the guns had fallen silent on the Line of Control (LoC) between India and Pakistan for many years now.
After these peaceful years, the government of Jammu and Kashmir, along with the department of tourism, have opened many areas close to the LoC for tourists and visitors.
The people living on the Line of Control are finally living a peaceful life, and they have welcomed tourists from across the country and the world over the past two years.
The areas close to the LoC in North Kashmir, including Keran, Gurez, Tangdhar, Machil, and Bangus, have been added to the new list of tourist places in the valley, and the summers in these areas have become new tourist attraction locations.
