Suhail Khan
Sopore, Sep 15 : Aijaz Guru, the brother of Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru, said that he is contesting the election to remove the “anti-nationalist” tag for Sopore.
Addressing the media, Aijaz Guru as per Kashmir Despatch said “My brother Afzal Guru had a different thought, and mine is different. I have entered the electoral process to remove the anti-nationalist tag for the people of my Sopore.”
Reaction on MP Er Rashid:
Aijaz said that Er Rashid is also a victim, however, it depends on all the people whether they will make him win or not in this assembly elections too, but he is a victim.
Guru said that during election time, leaders talk about the Kashmir issue, but after that, everyone forgets it. He said, “Our political leaders have taken away everything from Kashmir through politics for the last 70 years, and they have given different colors to it.”
He said these mainstream politicians attacking each other only suffered the people of Kashmir.
Aijaz said that for the last 35 years, the people of Sopore have only suffered, and no such Assembly leader has come forward who understands the pain of Sopore and removes the anti-national tag associated with it.
He said that unemployment is the biggest issue in Kashmir, and due to this, our youth are committing suicide, so peace, prosperity, and development for my constituency is also my priority for the people of the town.
Few days before speaking to Kashmir Despatch after filing his nomination form for the Sopore assembly seat, Aijaz said that we have remained distant from democracy for the past 35 years, being only victims, and he is also one of those victims, so we can no longer tolerate the oppression and tyranny.
