Clean Sweep in Baramulla, Rafiabad, Uri, Sopore, Pattan, and Gulmarg

Baramulla, Oct 08 : The National Conference achieved a clean sweep in the Baramulla district, securing six out of seven seats, with one seat going to its alliance partner, the Indian National Congress (INC).
According to details available with Kashmir Despatch, National Conference candidate and former DIG Riyaz Javid Bedar won the Pattan seat in a tight contest against People’s Conference candidate Imran Ansari, prevailing by just 603 votes. A total of 13 candidates contested for the Pattan seat.
In the Baramulla constituency, Javid Hassan Baig, who joined the National Conference in March of this year, celebrated his victory, defeating Independent candidate Shoiab Nabi Lone by a substantial margin of 11,773 votes. In total, 25 candidates participated in this race, including former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig.
Javid Hassan Baig received a total of 22,523 votes, consistently leading from the first round.
In the Rafiabad assembly seat, NC leader Javid Ahmad Dar secured victory by a margin of 9,202 votes.
A total of 12 candidates contested for this seat, with Apni Party candidate Yawar Ahmad Mir finishing in second place. Javid Dar received a total of 28,783 votes, achieving a notable victory.
In the Uri constituency, which had been closely monitored since the outset, Dr. Sajjad Shafi emerged victorious by a margin of 14,469 votes, defeating former minister Taj Mohiuddin.
Dr. Shafi garnered a total of 39,713 votes, establishing an impressive lead amidst fierce competition from six candidates.
In the Gulmarg seat, National Conference candidate and former director Pirzada Farooq Ahmad Shah triumphed over Apni Party candidate Ghulam Hassan Mir, winning by a margin of 4,191 votes.
A total of 13 candidates competed for this seat, with Pirzada Farooq Ahmad Shah securing 26,984 votes.
In Sopore, National Conference candidate Irshad Rasool Kar garnered attention with a significant victory margin of 20,356 votes.
Irshad secured a total of 26,975 votes, while Advocate Mursaleen finished second with 6,619 votes and two-time former MLA Haji Abdul Rashid Dar received 5,167 votes.
A total of 20 candidates contested for the Sopore assembly seat, marking Irshad as the first NC winner with a margin exceeding 20,000 votes in these elections.
In the Wagoora-Kreeri constituency, National Conference Alliance candidate Advocate Irfan Hafeez Lone achieved a decisive victory with a margin of 7,751 votes, defeating former minister Syed Basharat Bukhari of the People’s Conference.
Twelve candidates competed in the Wagoora-Kreeri seat, featuring a mix of new faces alongside the DDC chairperson.
Advocate Irfan Hafeez Lone received 17,002 votes, maintaining his lead from the first round to the final count.
In the northern region of the Baramulla district, the National Conference Alliance contested as a unified team in two key constituencies: Sopore and Baramulla.
