Bandipora, Nov 5: Three days after a massive search operation in the forests of north Kashmir’s Bandipora, security forces claimed to have killed a militant in an ongoing gunfight.
Top sources informed Kashmir Despatch that an exchange of fire took place between joint team of forces and militants in the Ketsun forest area of Bandipora this evening.
Sources stated that in the initial stages of the firefight, one militant has been killed while the operation entered its second phase.
They reported that firing from both sides is still ongoing.
Pertinently, a significant search operation was launched in the Bandipora district after an exchange of fire took place last week.
The Army had reported in a post on X, that suspicious movement was spotted in the Panar area of Bandipora, and when the militants were confronted, they opened indiscriminate fire and fled into the jungle, prompting the launch of the search operation.
However, after a two-day long search operation, security forces managed to trap the group in a nearby forest area this evening, where, according to the latest reports, one militant has been killed while operation is underway.
More to come.
