Ananthnag, Dec 06 : Renowned Naat Khawan, writer, and religious leader Ghulam Nabi Mir, popularly known as Abu Tariq, passed away on Friday.
A resident of Dooru Shahabad, Ghulam Nabi Mir was widely respected for his contributions to Islamic scholarship and education. He served as the former Ameer of Jamia Masjid Dooru and was a devoted member of several religious and intellectual circles, including the Ghausia Khanaqah.
In addition to his community involvement, he published more than 15 books related to the Islamic history of Kashmir.
He was the father of Tariq Ali Mir, a well-known analyst and columnist.
Tributes have poured in from various quarters, highlighting his invaluable contributions and his role as a guiding light for many.
Meanwhile, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Editor-in-Chief of Kashmir Despatch, offered condolences and prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul. He also prayed for strength for the bereaved family and extended solidarity to journalist Tariq Ahmad Mir and his family during this difficult time.
