Ganderbal, September 24: A 45-year-old woman was injured after a wild bear attacked her near her residence in the Anderwan area of Ganderbal district on Thursday, triggering concern among local residents.
The injured woman was identified as Najeeba Bano, wife of Shabir Ahmad Awan. She reportedly sustained injuries to her head during the attack.
Soon after the incident, the woman was evacuated from the area and shifted to SKIMS Soura for specialised medical treatment.

The incident has once again raised concerns among residents living close to forested areas, particularly over the movement of wild animals towards human habitations.
Residents have urged the concerned wildlife authorities to intensify monitoring and take preventive measures to minimise the risk of further human-wildlife encounters in the area
