Says NC Reaffirms Commitment to Restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s Rights and Dignity

Jammu, Mar 04 : In a scathing critique of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the People’s Conference (PC), Jammu and Kashmir’s Health and Education Minister, Sakina Yatoo, held the two parties responsible for the loss of statehood and the abrogation of Article 370 in the region.
Speaking to Kashmir Despatch, Yatoo attributed the current devastation and deterioration in Jammu and Kashmir to the actions of these parties during their time in power.
“The situation we face today—the loss of Article 370 and statehood—is a direct result of their actions. They were in power when these critical changes were imposed, and they failed to protect the rights and dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Yatoo stated. She emphasized that the PDP and PC, particularly under the leadership of Sajad Gani Lone and the PDP’s governance, were primarily responsible for the erosion of the region’s autonomy and the subsequent turmoil.
“The devastation we witness today, the destruction of our rights, our dignity, and everything we held dear, can be traced back to their tenure. If we examine their records and actions during their time in the assembly, it becomes clear how they contributed to the chaos and destruction that followed,” Yatoo added.
The minister also expressed skepticism about Sajad Gani Lone’s political future, stating, “If we scrutinize the circumstances, I do not believe Sajad Lone will stand in the assembly again.”
Yatoo reiterated the National Conference’s commitment to restoring statehood and Article 370, highlighting the party’s consistent efforts to address these issues. “The National Conference has always been clear about its stance. We passed a resolution in the assembly demanding the restoration of statehood and Article 370, and we remain committed to pursuing this goal. These parties (PDP and PC), however, are now trying to make excuses for their failures, but the people of Jammu and Kashmir know the truth,” she said.
She further accused the PDP and PC of attempting to deflect blame for the current state of affairs, asserting that their actions during their time in power had led to the region’s decline. “Both parties are responsible for the devastation we see today. Their actions in the assembly created chaos, and the consequences are evident for all to see,” Yatoo concluded.
The National Conference’s unwavering focus on restoring statehood and Article 370 remains a cornerstone of its political agenda, as the party continues to advocate for the rights and dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir she added.
