Asks NC MLAs to fulfill Poll commitments made with people
Jammu, March 4: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta, criticized the persistent obsession of certain Kashmiri leaders with Article 370 and the restoration of statehood, asserting that these issues are being used to divert attention from the real concerns of the people. He urged the National Conference (NC) MLAs to focus on the commitments made in their poll manifestos instead of wasting the precious time of the House.
In a press release issued here today, Kavinder Gupta stated that despite the Centre’s clear stance, some Valley-based legislators continue to harp on the abrogation of Article 370, which he termed as a “closed chapter” that no power can reinstate. He emphasized that the abrogation of Article 370 has paved the way for unprecedented development and integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country. “Those who still cling to the past are doing a great disservice to the people who are looking forward to development, jobs, and prosperity,” he remarked.
The senior BJP leader further criticized the opposition for failing to raise pressing public issues such as infrastructure development, youth issues and better healthcare facilities. “The obsession with Article 370 reflects their lack of vision and seriousness towards governance,” he added.
Clarifying the Centre’s position on statehood, he reiterated that it will be restored at an appropriate time once the security and development parameters are fully stabilized. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government is committed to restoring statehood, but only after ensuring that the democratic institutions are strengthened and peace is firmly established,” he assured.
Kavinder Gupta urged the NC MLAs and other opposition leaders to respect the aspirations of the people and to engage constructively in addressing their genuine grievances. He called upon them to support the government’s initiatives aimed at transforming Jammu and Kashmir into a model of peace and development. He expressed confidence that the people of J&K would reject the divisive politics of the past and support the progressive vision of the BJP-led government for a bright and prosperous future.
