National Law University to be Established in Jammu & Kashmir

Jammu, March 07: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced on Friday that a National Law University (NLU) will be established in Jammu & Kashmir.

The announcement was made during a session in the Assembly, where Abdullah revealed that a budget of ₹50 crore has been allocated for the development of the J&K NLU.

“Our government is committed to establishing a National Law University in Jammu & Kashmir to drive legal education reforms and research,” stated CM Omar Abdullah. He emphasized that the NLU will offer world-class training aligned with contemporary standards, empowering future legal professionals and enhancing the delivery of justice. “I propose a provision of ₹50 crore for this initiative,” he added.

This long-awaited move will mark the establishment of the 28th NLU in the country and aims to bring legal education in the region on par with national standards he added.
