ANANTNAG, April 24: In a firm crackdown on unethical pharmaceutical practices, the Drug Control Authority in Anantnag has suspended the operations of M/s Katlantic Pharmaceutical Distributors, a wholesale drug agency located at Khah Bazar, Cheeni Chowk, Anantnag. The suspension, which spans nine days, was ordered after the agency was found guilty of violating key licensing conditions and failing to follow scientific guidelines for the disposal of expired medicines.
The action was prompted by a specific complaint that alerted authorities to the improper dumping of expired pharmaceutical products. Upon investigation, a team of Drug Control Officers traced a heap of discarded medical waste found on Shipora Road in the Janglatmandi area back to Katlantic Pharmaceutical Distributors. The discovery raised serious concerns about the firm’s adherence to regulatory protocols.
During the subsequent inquiry, it was confirmed that the agency had breached its license terms by neglecting to dispose of expired medicines through approved scientific methods. Instead, the products were recklessly dumped, posing a significant threat to public health and the environment.
In response, the Drug Control Authority swiftly suspended the company’s operational license for a period of nine days. Officials stated that this punitive action aims to serve as a warning to other pharmaceutical traders about the consequences of regulatory non-compliance.
Additionally, a stern advisory has been issued to all pharmaceutical establishments operating within Anantnag district. Traders have been instructed to adopt and strictly follow legal procedures for the scientific disposal of expired and unused medical products. The directive emphasizes the importance of upholding pharmaceutical ethics and ensuring that public health and environmental safety are not compromised.
Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to rigorous monitoring and swift action against any entity found violating pharmaceutical regulations in the district.
