As the nation prepares to commemorate the 26th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, a delegation of military veterans and Veer Naris visited the Chinar Corps in Srinagar to honor the sacrifices made by the Indian Army during the Kargil War of 1999. This significant day not only serves as a remembrance of the bravery displayed on the battlefields but also as a celebration of patriotism, valor, and the unwavering resolve of the country.

The Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed annually on July 26, marks the successful culmination of the operations that evicted Pakistani forces from strategic heights, reaffirming India’s sovereignty in the region. Events are scheduled in Srinagar, Drass, and Kargil to honor the sacrifices of the Armed Forces.
In anticipation of the celebrations, the Akhil Bhartiya Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad organized a visit to honor the veterans, led by Rear Admiral Rajvir Singh (Retd.), former Principal of the Indian Naval Academy. Arriving at Badami Bagh Cantonment on July 2, the delegation comprised brave veterans and Veer Naris who rendered heartfelt tributes at the Chinar War Memorial.

During their visit, the group explored the “Ibadat-e-Shahadat” museum, gaining insights into the valorous history of the Indian Army and the Chinar Corps in securing peace in the Kashmir Valley. The visit was a poignant reminder of the rich heritage and cultural tapestry of Jammu and Kashmir.
The veterans engaged in meaningful discussions with the Chinar Corps Commander, emphasizing the pivotal role of ex-servicemen in nation-building efforts among the local communities. The Corps Commander praised the energy and camaraderie displayed by the veterans and Kargil Bravehearts, which exemplify the motto “Naam, Namak aur Nishaan,” reinforcing the notion that “Once a Soldier, Always a Soldier.”

As the country gears up to honor its heroes, the visit by this delegation serves to strengthen the bonds between the armed forces and civilian society, instilling a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made by those who have served. The contributions of these veterans continue to inspire current and future generations in their pursuit of peace and security for the nation.
